If you know exactly how much you feed in grams, you can multiply that directly by the price-per-gram for an even more precise cost.

How do I find the calories-per-cup for my pet's food?

It's listed on the bag label, typically in the nutrition or feeding guidelines section, labeled as "ME" (metabolizable energy) or "caloric content" in kcal/cup or kcal/kg. If you can't find it on the bag, the manufacturer's website usually has it. The default of 350 kcal/cup is a reasonable rough estimate for average dry kibble if the exact number is unavailable.

Does this calculator work for wet food or raw food?

It's optimized for dry kibble. Wet food has a much higher moisture content and lower calorie density per gram, so the per-cup approximation doesn't apply well.
