How It Works & The Growth Formula

International Cat Care and the Cornell Feline Health Center note that kittens typically gain about 0.45 kg (1 lb) per month during their first 5 months, after which growth slows as they approach their adult weight (typically reached around 10-12 months).

Projected Weight = Current Weight + (Months of Growth Remaining × 0.45 kg)

This is a general guideline, not a precise prediction -- growth rate varies by breed, genetics, litter size, and nutrition. Larger breeds like Maine Coons continue filling out well past a year.

Calculations follow the NRC RER/MER methodology, aligned with WSAVA & AAHA guidelines.
